Hats off to Narayan!

Of course I have no idea about R.K.Narayan inspite of ‘as an Indian English Writer.’ To some extent I can tell, he is from southern region of India. Now I am pressed to say he and I are from same native place having same kind of traditions and habitual status.

I know, you are all anticipating some thing new from my side about RKN as writer because I hope you are all (majority of people) familiar with his literature. But I have to give importance to those minorities also, right? That is why I wish to write below things.

Perhaps RKN is better known as a novelist. I found a kind of delight and a sense of familiarity through his literature. He had written short stories, published collections of essays which are of course plenty in amount!
To quote some of the best novels, Swami and Friends, The B.A, Man eater of Malgudi, A tiger for Malgudi, Guide, Mr. Sampath etc. All sets in the enchanting fictional territory of Mulgudi. With Mulgudi as a frame of reference he pointed so many events in a simple manner which revealed the very essence of India.

About RKN”s short Stories………..
I wish to call his short stories as a ‘pool’ of wonder. I hung on to every word from his short stories because of its graphic detail. In his stories we feel a kind of transition in which there is a quantum jump and again it comes to its gloomy state. And we feel a soothing sense when a heavy rain stops with its last little drop falling on leaves and roofs of the houses to the ground with a sound ……tup…tup…..

If you are lover of short stories you have to read Lawly road. Since this can provide you a great pleasure. Some times he leaves a lot to our imagination, when we catch it, we like and I am sure move torwards his pennings. To some extent I would like to keep away English humourist P.G.Wodhouse (being a fan !).

You know, I am a student of Physics Chemistry and Maths and I found no reasons to dislike RKN’s writings and to differentiate science from literature. I equally enjoy Stephen Hawkings, V.S. Naipal, P.G. whodouse, Arundhati roy, Ravi belegere, Ruskin bond with RKN.

When u feel bore give a try to RKN’s . I am sure you relish it.
I have to pay a salute to my native inimitive genious on the ocation of his birth century.
